Principal Secretary Women and Child Development Shri J.N. Kansotia has said that gender budgeting is must for women empowerment. He said that data segregation should be done in terms of gender only then can proper work be done in the right direction towards gender equality. Shri Kansotia was addressing a one-day Gender Responsive Budgeting workshop organised at Hotel Palash today in collaboration with U. N. Women.
Shri Kansotia said that gender responsive budgeting is a strong means of bringing women into the mainstream of development. Data segregation gives details on the number of provisions and facilities being given to girls or women in the schemes being run by various departments.
Sushri Dharmishtha of U.N. Women, Hyderabad gave a presentation of a survey conducted in Madhya Pradesh in term of gender responsive budget. She said that several such facts have come to light in the survey according to which much more work has to be done in the direction of women empowerment.
Apart from officials of Women and Child Development Department, officials of the departments of Forest, Tribal Welfare and School Education Department were also present on the occasion.
