A female player of Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy Rubina Francis has made history by bagging gold medal for India at the international level.
Informing in this regard, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Smt Yashodhara Raje Scindia said that Rubina Frances won gold medal in team event, representing India in 10 metre air pistol competition in the World Shooting Para Sports Cup in Bangkok, Thailand being hold since November 10. India stood first in the competition with a total of 1070 points including 355 points of Rubina, 358 points of Pooja Agrawal and 357 points of Sonia Sharma. Thailand remained second with 1048 points.
It is notable that Rubina, a resident of Jabalpur and differently able, has been selected in Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy in July this year. Rubina is on the top in rankings of differently able players in India. She was selected under Target Olympic Podium Scheme of Government of India, under which the best players of the country are given Rs 50000 per month scholarship.
